GoUni Consulting (“GoUni”, “we”, “us” or “our”) operates gouni.my and provides education counselling, university and course matching, application support and related student services. This Personal Data Protection & Privacy Notice explains how we collect, use, disclose, store and protect personal data when you use our website or ask us to assist with your education journey.

1. Personal data we may collect

Depending on how you interact with GoUni, we may collect information such as your name, email address, phone or WhatsApp number, nationality, role (for example student or parent), education history, qualifications, grades or results, preferred destination, university, course, intake, scholarship interests, application details, communications with us and application progress. We may also receive ordinary technical information generated when you use the website, such as browser/device information, cookies and analytics data.

Please do not send more personal or sensitive information than is reasonably needed for us to assist you. If additional documents are required later, a consultant will explain what is needed and why.

2. Why we process your data

We may process personal data to respond to enquiries; provide education counselling and course/university shortlisting; assess general eligibility and scholarship options; prepare, submit and follow up applications at your request; support offer, enrolment, visa or pre-departure processes where applicable; maintain application records and status updates; communicate service-related information; improve our website and services; protect against misuse or security incidents; and comply with applicable legal, regulatory or contractual obligations.

3. How we obtain personal data

We normally receive personal data directly from you through this website, email, telephone, WhatsApp, meetings, events or application documents. Where you authorize us to assist with an application, relevant universities, colleges, service providers or partners may also provide application-related information back to GoUni.

4. Disclosure to third parties

We may disclose relevant personal data only where reasonably necessary for the purpose you requested, including to universities, colleges and education providers; scholarship or application partners; visa, travel or related service providers where applicable; website, hosting, email, analytics and IT service providers acting for us; professional advisers; and public authorities where disclosure is required by law. We do not sell your personal data to advertisers.

5. Overseas transfers

If you ask GoUni to assist with study or applications outside Malaysia, relevant information may need to be transferred to institutions or service providers in another country. We will take reasonable steps to ensure that such transfers are connected to the requested service and are handled with appropriate safeguards required by applicable law.

6. Service communications and marketing

Submitting an enquiry or application allows GoUni to contact you about that enquiry or application. This is separate from optional promotional or direct-marketing communications. Where marketing messages are sent, you may ask us to stop them or use the unsubscribe/opt-out method provided.

7. Cookies and analytics

Our website may use essential cookies and analytics or similar technologies to operate the site, remember preferences, understand traffic and improve performance. Third-party services used on the website may set their own cookies subject to their own notices and settings.

GoUni serves students of different ages. If you are under 18, we encourage you to involve a parent or guardian when providing personal data or making education and application decisions. Where required, GoUni may request parent or guardian authorization.

Our website may link to universities and other third-party websites. Their privacy practices are controlled by those organizations, not GoUni, and you should review their notices before providing information directly to them.
