The Foundation in Communication Design at The One Academy is a preparatory pathway for students progressing into advanced art and design study, including the academy’s BA (Hons) Graphic Design and BA (Hons) Digital Media Design programmes. It builds essential creative and academic foundations through areas such as drawing, design fundamentals, colour, three-dimensional studies, art history and introductory computer graphics. The programme is structured to help students strengthen observation, visual communication, idea development and the self-management skills needed for higher-level design education. Rather than specialising too early, students gain broad exposure to fundamental art and design processes and learn how to develop and present creative work more confidently. It is suited to students who want a structured transition into degree-level communication or digital design and need a stronger foundation in core creative skills.
